PROJECT DETAILS

Gavilan College

Gilroy, CA

W. Bradley Electric designed and installed a campus-wide fiber optic backbone system for Gavilan College, installing a fully redundant fiber ring to support high-speed connectivity across multiple academic and support buildings. The project included the installation of(2) 288-strand singlemode fiber optic cabling routed through existing underground duct banks, manholes, and handholes.

As this campus is over 100 years old, a thorough investigation of the existing pathways was performed prior to starting any work. WBE documented pathways, confirmed pathways are usable, and coordinated the installation of new pathways as needed.

The system was designed with multiple splice points throughout the campus, where additional 12-, 24-, and 48-strand fiber cables were branched to individual buildings. WBE performed extensive fusion splicing, installed fiber distribution units (FDUs) at each building, and provided new splice enclosures and innerduct infrastructure to support long-term system reliability and expansion.

As part of the project, WBE also completed data center fiber buildout, including the installation of multiple fiber enclosures with 1,152 fiber splices to support diverse routing and redundant clockwise and counterclockwise loop configurations. The result is a highly resilient, scalable network infrastructure capable of supporting current campus operations and future growth.
