The Traffic Estimator plays a key role in evaluating project plans, preparing accurate cost estimates, and developing competitive proposals for construction and traffic-related projects. This position supports Project Managers by coordinating bids, analyzing project requirements, and ensuring all estimates are complete, timely, and aligned with client expectations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in construction estimating, and comfortable collaborating with vendors, subcontractors, and internal project teams.

What You’ll Do

· Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to determine full scope of work.

· Prepare accurate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.

· Conduct complete quantity takeoffs using historical data and industry standards.

· Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor bids; negotiate pricing when needed.

· Build competitive proposals and support RFP responses with Project Managers.

· Maintain accurate project documentation and deliver bid packages on schedule.

· Participate in pre-bid meetings and assist with project scheduling and planning.

· Support internal teams throughout the project lifecycle with updated estimates.

· Communicate clearly with clients, contractors, Purchasing Agents, and PMs.

What We’re Looking For

· Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimating methods.

· Experience estimating Traffic, Electrical, Telecom, or related construction projects.

· Skilled in proposal writing, takeoffs, cost analysis, and vendor negotiation.

· Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.

· Ability to meet tight deadlines, anticipate project challenges, and produce accurate work.

· Team-oriented with the ability to mentor junior staff when needed.

Experience and Education

· 5–8 years of experience in construction or traffic estimating required.

· Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent industry experience.

· Proficiency with estimating software, traffic analysis tools, and project documentation systems.

· Ability to work at a desk for extended periods; frequent use of computer and estimating software.

· Ability to perform site visits, including walking, bending, lifting equipment (up to 30 lbs.), and working outdoors.

· Visual acuity to analyze traffic plans, maps, diagrams, and data charts.

Pay: $100,000.00 – $175,000.00 per year
